Myanmar Emeritus Bishop Dies at 77
Emeritus Bishop Raymond Saw Po Ray of Mawlamyine Diocese, Myanmar, passed away at 1:30 AM on January 6 at 77.
The late emeritus bishop suffered from diabetes and illness for many years.
Bishop Raymond was born in Henzada, Irrawaddy Division, Myanmar on August 11, 1948, and ordained as a priest on April 13, 1975.
The late emeritus bishop was ordained as an auxiliary bishop of Yangon Archdiocese on December 8, 1987, and installed on May 27, 1993.
He became the first residential bishop of Mawlamyine Diocese.
He retired on May 31, 2023.
The Diocese of Mawlamyine comprises the southern half of Mon State and the whole Tanintharyi Region of Myanmar.
