Pope Francis solemnly inaugurated the Second Session of the 16th General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops with the Holy Mass in St Peter’s Square on September 2.

In his homily, Pope Francis stressed the necessity of open hearts for the dialogue and harmony that come from the Holy Spirit.

The Pope continued that we must be open to the contributions of all to hear the voice of God so that we can remove obstacles to the harmony intended by the Holy Spirit.

Pope Francis invited all, “Brothers and sisters, let us resume this ecclesial journey with an eye to the world, for the Christian community is always at the service of humanity, to proclaim the joy of the Gospel to all.”
