Pope: October 7 to be day of prayer and fasting for peace
Pope announced October 7 as a day of prayer and fasting for peace after the Mass at St. Peter’s Square for the solemn inauguration of the second session of the General Assembly of the Synod.
The Pope said, “In this dramatic hour of our history while the winds of war and the fires of violence continue to devastate entire peoples and nations,” the Christian community is called to “put itself at the service of humanity”.
After declaring his intention to lead the public recitation of the Rosary for Peace on Sunday, October 6, he announced October 7 as a day of prayer and fasting for Peace.
October 7 marks the one-year anniversary of the Israel-Hamas war outbreak.
