The Jubilee of the Catechists of the Diocese of Pathein

The Jubilee celebration of the Catechists of the Diocese of Pathein took place at the Sacred Heart Church, Minor Seminary, in Mayanchaung village, Pathein, Myanmar, on May 12, 2025.

The event started with Holy Mass at 6:00 am on that day.

His Excellency Bishop Henry Eikhlein of Pathein Diocese presided over the Mass, and His Excellency Bishop Maurice Nyunt Wai of Mawlamyine Diocese delivered the homily.

In his homily, Bishop Maurice Nyunt Wai said, “We must hear about Christ’s salvation for the door of salvation to open. Let us recall the words of Christ, who said, ‘I am the gate for the sheep.’ Let us remember again that the door of salvation is for everyone.”

The prelate highlighted that Cornelius sent three of his servants to call for Simon Peter to preach the good news. Christ the Lord also sent His Spirit to the household of Cornelius, and they were granted entry into the door of salvation.

“Therefore, that event shows that the word ‘sent’ is very important. For it says in Romans 10:15, And how can they preach unless they are sent?’ How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news! Yes, in God’s sight, the feet of pastors/teachers are more beautiful than the feet of princes/princesses,” Bishop Maurice emphasized.

The bishop asserted that how beautiful are the feet of those who are sent to preach the gospel; these feet are the only way to reach Christ, who is the gate of the sheepfold.

“Therefore, to this day, I am very proud of all of you who have faithfully preached the good news of Christ, and I encourage you with prayer to continue preaching. Amen,” Bishop Maurice insisted.

95 catechists who are serving in the Diocese of Pathein were present at this Jubilee Mass of the Catechists.
