Power of Faith

Eph 5:21-33; Psalm: 18; Lk 13:18-21

In today’s Gospel, Jesus tells two short parables to convey important spiritual lessons to his followers. The first parable is about the mustard seed, which grows into a large tree that provides shelter for birds. The second parable is about leaven that leavens the whole batch of flour. These parables teach us about the power of faith and the impact of God’s kingdom in our lives.

The mustard seed is known for its small size, yet it has the potential to grow into a large tree. In the same way, our faith may start small, but with time and nurturing, it can grow into something big and impactful. This parable reminds us that even the smallest acts of faith can have a significant impact on our lives and the lives of others. It encourages us to have faith in God’s plan for us and to trust that He will guide us through our journey.

The second parable of the leaven teaches us about the transformative power of God’s kingdom. Leaven is a small amount of yeast that leavens the entire batch of flour. Similarly, God’s kingdom has the power to transform our lives and the world around us. This parable reminds us that even the smallest acts of kindness, love, and compassion can have a ripple effect and spread goodness to those around us. It is a call to action for us to be the leaven in the world and spread God’s love to others.

Reflecting on these parables, we are reminded of the importance of having faith and trusting in God’s plan for our lives. We are encouraged to have a growth mindset and to nurture our faith so that it can flourish and impact those around us. We are also called to be agents of change and transformation in the world by spreading God’s love and compassion to others. These parables remind us that even the smallest acts of faith and kindness can have a profound impact on those around us.

The parables of the mustard seed and the leaven in today’s Gospel teach us valuable spiritual lessons about faith, transformation, and the power of God’s kingdom. They remind us to have faith in God’s plan for us, to trust in His guidance, and to be agents of change and transformation in the world. Through these parables, we are encouraged to nurture our faith, spread God’s love, and be the leaven in the world that brings light and hope to those around us.
