Prayer: Seeking God’s guidance

1Cor 6:1-11; Psalm: 149; Lk 6:12-19

In the homily on Luke 6:12-19, we are reminded of the importance of prayer and seeking guidance from God in our daily lives. The passage speaks of Jesus spending the night in prayer before choosing his twelve apostles, highlighting the significance of seeking God’s direction in making important decisions. Through prayer, we can align our will with God’s will and be open to the guidance of the Holy Spirit in all aspects of our lives.

One saint who exemplified the importance of prayer and seeking God’s guidance is St. Catherine of Siena, who famously said, “Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.” St. Catherine understood the transformative power of prayer and how it can align us with our true purpose in life. By seeking God’s guidance and following His Will, we can live out our unique vocation and make a positive impact on the world around us.

In our own lives, we can emulate the example of Jesus and the saints by dedicating time to prayer and seeking God’s guidance in all that we do. By aligning our will with God’s Will, we can live out our true purpose and be a light to those around us. Let us take inspiration from today’s Gospel and the words of St. Catherine of Siena, and strive to be who God meant us to be, setting the world on fire with our love and devotion to Him.
