Faithful followers of Christ with humility

Eph 6:1-9; Psalm: 144; Lk 13:22-30

In today’s Gospel, Jesus teaches about the narrow door to the kingdom of God. He tells his followers that many will try to enter, but will not be able to because they did not truly follow his teachings. This passage calls for us to reflect on our own spiritual journey and contemplate whether we are truly living according to God’s will.

One of the key messages in this passage is the importance of faith and living a life of obedience to God. Jesus warns that those who do not truly follow his teachings will not be able to enter the kingdom of God. This reminds us that faith without action is dead and that we must actively live out our beliefs in order to be loyal followers of Christ.

Jesus also speaks about the concept of the last being first and the first being last. This challenges us to reevaluate our understanding of status and hierarchy in society. In the kingdom of God, those who are humble and servant-hearted will be exalted, while those who exalt themselves will be humbled. This calls for us to examine our own attitudes and actions towards others, and to strive to be humble and selfless in all that we do.

The narrow door mentioned by Jesus serves as a symbol of the difficulties and challenges that we may face on our spiritual journey. It is not always easy to live a life centered on God, and we may encounter many obstacles along the way. However, Jesus reminds us that with faith and perseverance, we can overcome these challenges and enter into the kingdom of God.

Today’s Gospel calls for us to reflect on our spiritual journey and consider whether we are truly living according to God’s will. It challenges us to be faithful and obedient followers of Christ, to reevaluate our attitudes toward others, and to persevere through the difficulties that we may face. By reflecting on this passage, we can deepen our relationship with God and strive to live a life that is pleasing to Him.
