“The Letter,” A Documentary on Laudato Si,” shown in Yangon

A documentary Movie, THE LETTER, based on LAUDATO SI, was shown to the invited guests in a Yangon Cineplex in Kan Thar Yar Center, Yangon, Myanmar.
The event took place on May 26, 2025 at 9:30 am till noon time of the day.
It is the year in which the Church celebrates the 10th Year of Laudato Si (Praise Be to You), which is the second Encyclical of the late Pope Francis, subtitled “on care for our common home,” published on May 24, 2015.
Laudato Si week is celebrated from May 24 to 31.
Karuna Mission Social Solidarity ( KMSS) and the Social Pastoral Coordination Unit of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Myanmar organized this event.

Auxiliary Bishops of Yangon Archdiocese, Vicar General Priests from all the Dioceses, General Secretary Team and Bishops from Myanmar Councils of Churches (MCC), Song Competition Judges, vocalists and winners, SPCU, CBCM and its commission offices, CRCM, Religious Congregations, CRS (CI Partner), RVA, OSC (CBCM), Yangon Youth Directors and Youth Representatives, Women Representatives, KMSS Yangon and KMSS National Office, Business Sector_ Catholic Business Group, The Village Resort Hotel, and Rangoon Cineplex honored this event by their presence in this event.
Although His Eminence Charles Cardinal Bo was invited to be present at the Movie Show, he was not able to be present due to pastoral reasons.

His Excellency Bishop Noel Saw Naw Aye delivered a short comment in the place of Charles Cardinal Bo and said that the Movie gives him knowledge and motivation a lot.
He encouraged those present on the occasion to write their own reflection on Laudato Si. “It is a documentary, showing the situation of the 5 Continents. Humanity should be without the borders of the Countries, and we are to live and work for the good of the whole world. Prayer and action are connected in the Letter,” said the Bishop.
And he thanked the Social Pastoral Coordination Unit of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Myanmar for the program.
The Movie Show was followed by giving a token of Appreciation to Business People who contributed to the event, by Bishop Noel Saw Naw Aye.

Daw Mary Khin, Program Manager of KMSS, explained the activities of Caritas Myanmar.
Daw Mary Khin said that it is to help and support the needy, to support the Health and Education of the people. Caritas Myanmar is working according to the pillars of Pope Leo XIV, which are Peace, justice, and truth.
In addition, she said that they are working for Climate justice, Sustainability of the Poor People, Tree Plantation, Advocacy for Climate justice, and for Compassion and love.
She reminded that since it is the year of Jubilee of Hope, there is a Campaign to free the people from their debt.

Gifts of honors were given to those who have performed as judges for the Song Competition by Bishop Raymond Wai Lin Tun.
Those who were awarded for their theme songs were Nway Min Ko, Ko Wilfred. On behalf of John Kap, Rev. Fr. Dominic Savio Thang Suan Lang received the award. Listening to the theme Songs of Safeguarding the Common Home (the Earth) was one of the programs of the day’s event. The songs were A Lin Nay Thit Mya, A Thet Shu Kway, and Sein Lan So Pyay Do Kaba.
At the end of the day’s program, Rev. Fr. Dominic Zabinus, Director of KMSS YGN, delivered words of thanks to all those who made it possible for the events and all those who participated.
