Myanmar bishop: “We all must be touched by the Spirit”

Bishop Henry Eikhlein of Pathein encouraged the students of National Catechists that we all must be touched by the Spirit on June 8, 2025.
Bishop Henry Eikhlein said, “We all must be touched by the Spirit. Today is the feast of Pentecost, sending down the Holy Spirit upon the apostles.’’
The bishop encouraged them at the opening Mass of the academic year 2025 of the St. Martin’s National Catechists School in Myaungmya, Ayeyarwady Division, Myanmar.
“We also arrived here because the Holy Spirit led us. So, in the 2025 Academic year, forty-two students must be touched by God in their daily lives. It is not accidental to be here, but it is God’s will that you are here. God sends you to be here,” the prelate highlighted.

He urged them to be in communion with God by their prayer, meditation, learning scripture, and listening to the homily.
The bishop reminded the students that they all must be filled with the Spirit throughout the academic year.
“During the academic year, you will face many challenges, such as following the timetable and making relationships with others, and attending the classes, but be touched by God and filled with the Spirit, so that you can continue your academic year successfully and happily,” Bishop Henry added.

A student, Maria Aye Myat Thwe, from the Diocese of Bamaw, told RVA Pwo Karen Service that there was only one old catechist in her place.
“I feel sad when I see people from other religions diligently teaching their faiths. I also want to share with the children and youth in my village about God. I will put everything I learn here into practice,” Ms. Maria added.
Another student, Joseph Naw Htoi from the Diocese of Lashio, told RVA Pwo Karen Service, “First, I want to share God’s word to children. Second, I will help and guide young people as much as I can. Finally, I’ve come here to assist all people with religious matters to the best of my ability.
