Myanmar Kalay Diocese Hosts Children’s Mass and Rally to Promote Missionary Childhood Association

The Sts. Peter & Paul Parish in the Diocese of Kalay held a special children’s Mass and praise rally on October 22, 2025, in Kalay Myo, a vibrant celebration dedicated to promoting the Missionary Childhood Association (MCA) and fostering faith among the youth.

The Mass, presided over by Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Maximian Pau Sian Mung and concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Joseph Thang Nen Zo Mung, Director of Diocesan Social Communication and Coordinator of RVA Tedim Chin Service, was notably led by the children themselves. Members of the MCA solemnly conducted the liturgical services, including the readings and the singing of psalms and hymns.

In a homily divided to address both parents and children, Fr. Joseph delivered powerful messages. Speaking to the adults, he connected Gospel values with Chin (Zomi) cultural identity, issuing a stark warning against illegal drug cultivation. He directly addressed the ongoing situation in Chin State, urging parents to reconsider the legacy they leave their children.

“Nowadays, some parents do not obey the civil law and have poppy fields in their village,” Fr. Joseph said. “They might have money, but at the same time, many of their children may become drug abusers in the future.” He implored the congregation to “earn money legitimately” to protect the next generation from the scourge of addiction.

Turning to the young attendees, Fr. Joseph’s message was one of encouragement and hope. “Set a goal and walk constantly to reach your goal with faith and hope,” he told them. “Success is a reward from God to those who work hard. Fear not! Do the right thing and know that God is always with you to protect and support.”

Before the conclusion of the Mass, a special blessing was offered for all children who had not yet made their First Holy Communion.

The spiritual celebration continued in the Parish Hall with a one-and-a-half-hour praise and worship service dedicated to the MCA. In his opening remarks, Fr. Maximian welcomed the participants and congratulated the children on their efforts. He emphasized the importance of using time wisely and learning the value of unity and teamwork through such activities.

“If you spend this time properly for the greater glory of God,” Fr. Maximian announced, “I will arrange a singing and praise service monthly in the future.”

The event drew participation from approximately 500 faithful, including both parents and children. Parents expressed great satisfaction in seeing their children actively participate in both the Mass and the subsequent praise service.

The gathering concluded with the parish providing lunch for all participants, marking a day of community, faith, and a shared commitment to nurturing the spiritual growth of the diocese’s youngest members.
