Myitkyina Bishop Delivers Lenten Message Through RVA Kachin

Bishop John Mung Ngawn La Sam of Myitkyina Diocese delivered his Lenten message to the faithful of Myitkyina through a video broadcast on RVA Kachin on February 18, 2026.

As the Church approaches the season of Lent, the Bishop invited the faithful to renew their lives spiritually despite the present difficulties.

“Now, as we are approaching Lent, let me invite you to walk in a new way of living,” the Bishop said in the video message.

He acknowledged that many people are facing hardships. “Now we are all in hard times due to various kinds of reasons. Let’s use this hardship as a means of blessing with our Lord Jesus Christ,” he encouraged.

Calling for sincere conversion, he said, “Let me invite all of you to walk with our inner change seen by the Lord rather than seen by people outside.”

Referring to the forty days of Lent, he urged the faithful to live out their faith through action. “In these forty days of Lent, let us cast out our old self, walking in helping others and forgiving one another as the Lord’s will.”

He reminded the faithful of God’s mercy and closeness. “God is our real Father who never tires of showing mercy to us. He will never abandon us in our difficulties. He will lead us by hand. He hears our prayers.”

Encouraging openness to God’s grace, he added, “Let us open our hearts for the new grace of the Lord that He is giving. Let us ask for humility, helping, and forgiving one another from the Lord, as real followers of Christ.”

In conclusion, he called for unity and prayer. “In this hard time, let us work hard together, praying for the peace of our country.”

Through this video message aired by RVA Kachin, Bishop John encouraged the faithful to observe Lent with repentance, mercy, unity, and hope.
