Hakha and Falam Services Unite for First Joint RVA Day Celebration

About 1,000 believers gathered on May 3 for the first joint RVA Day celebration of the Hakha and Falam services, a milestone that Bishop Lucius Hre Kung called a reminder of the power of media to spread God’s Word.
The Mass was led by Bishop Lucius Hre Kung of Hakha Diocese, joined by nine priests, 18 religious sisters, and five major seminarians. The event marked a meaningful moment of prayer and reflection for the Catholic community in Chin State.

A Special Day of Prayer
In his homily, the Bishop noted that RVA Day is also a special day of prayer for Radio Veritas Asia. He explained that RVA plays an important role in spreading the Word of God.
“Let us be thankful for this holy day that the Lord has given us,” the Bishop said. “God uses many ways to teach us and guide us. Even through the media, He is leading people closer to Him today.”
He reminded the congregation of the message from the first letter of Saint Peter (1 Peter 2:4-9), which teaches believers what kind of people they are. God has given many gifts, including the RVA media platform, and it is the duty of the faithful to recognize and protect it.
“We are a people chosen by God to praise Him. He has called us out of darkness into His wonderful light. Because of this, we should always remember who we are and live as His people,” the Bishop said.

A Call to Share the Good News
The Bishop emphasized that Christians have a responsibility to share the Good News so that people living in darkness can find the light. This is an important mission for all believers.
He encouraged the faithful by recalling the early believers. After the death of Saint Stephen, the disciples were scattered. Even though they were spread out, they continued to talk about Jesus wherever they went.
“Even though there are only a small number of Catholics in Chin State, we should still share the message of salvation wherever we are,” he said.

Media’s Powerful Role
Today, the media plays a big role in spreading the Gospel. The Bishop noted that RVA Hakha-Falam programs have reached Chin people around the world through online preaching, demonstrating how powerful media can be in sharing God’s Word.
He spoke about how the Holy Spirit works in people’s lives, giving the example of Philip, who was guided by the Spirit to teach an Ethiopian man. That man accepted the message of salvation. In the same way, many people today search online for answers to faith questions. Through this, many are finding their way back to God and to the Catholic Church.

A Move and a New Beginning
Because of conflict and damage in Falam town, the RVA Falam service moved to Hakha in 2022. This year was special as it marked the first time Hakha and Falam organized RVA Day together.
The Bishop reminded everyone to be thankful because RVA media is a gift and a blessing from God. Every Christian has a duty to support and share the Good News. By watching, liking, and sharing online preaching, believers can also take part in this mission and become missionaries in their own way.
The celebration drew about 1,000 believers, making it a joyful and meaningful event for the community. The gathering stood as a testament to the resilience of Catholic media in Chin State, even amid ongoing challenges.
