Fatima Feast Day Celebrated in Kalaymyo with Novena, Confirmation of 100 Children

Around 1,500 faithful gathered at Sts. Peter and Paul Church on May 13 for the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima, a celebration that included a nine-day novena and the Sacrament of Confirmation for about 100 children.
The parish, led by Rev. Fr. Maximian Pau Sian Mung, organized the special novena for the first time, with daily prayers, Masses, and homilies led by different priests. The faithful were strengthened in their devotion through reflections on prayer, repentance, unity, and trust in God.

Solemn Mass and Homily
The concluding Holy Mass was presided over by Bishop Felix Lian Khen Thang, with 13 concelebrating priests. In his homily, the Bishop reflected on the message of Fatima and encouraged the faithful to remain strong in prayer, especially through the Rosary. He emphasized that the message remains relevant today, particularly in a world affected by violence, suffering, and uncertainty.
Bishop Felix called on the faithful to pray earnestly for peace in Myanmar and throughout the world. He also reminded the congregation that the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to simple children—Jacinta, Francisco, and Lucia—showing that God works through ordinary people who are faithful and open to His call.

Confirmation of 100 Children
A special highlight of the celebration was the administration of the Sacrament of Confirmation to around 100 children, who received the gifts of the Holy Spirit during the Mass. Their families, catechists, and parishioners joined in prayer for them on this important occasion.

Fellowship and Gratitude
After Mass, Bishop Felix, the priests, and the newly confirmed gathered for a commemorative group photo. A fellowship lunch was then served to all participants, creating an atmosphere of unity, joy, and thanksgiving.

Fr. Maximian Pau Sian Mung expressed sincere gratitude to Bishop Felix, the concelebrating priests, religious sisters, volunteers, benefactors, choir members, and all the faithful who participated and supported the feast day celebration.
The celebration of the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima became a memorable and grace-filled occasion for the parish community of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, strengthening faith and devotion while renewing prayers for peace and hope in Myanmar and around the world.
