Monthly Recollection Unites Kalay Diocesan Staff in Prayer and Renewal

Under the leadership of His Excellency Bishop Felix Lian Khen Thang, Bishop of Kalay, the Diocese of Kalay continues its tradition of holding a monthly recollection for diocesan staff, fostering spiritual renewal, unity, and commitment to the Church’s mission. The June recollection was held on Friday, June 26, at the Diocesan Centre, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Around 50 participants, including priests, religious sisters, and lay staff, took part in the day of prayer and reflection.
Participants represented the Diocese’s various commissions and ministries, including KMSS (Karuna Mission Social Solidarity), the Social Communication Commission, and RVA Tedim Chin Service, the Literature Commission, the Fiat Journal Commission, the Youth Commission, the Religious Articles Shop, as well as the general cleaners and gatekeepers serving in the Bishop’s Compound.

The recollection was led by Rev. Fr. Romanus Hau Deih Sut, who is preparing for further studies in Rome. He delivered a conference on the Seven Corporal Works of Mercy, based on the teachings of the Catholic Church. He encouraged participants to put their faith into action through works of charity by:
1. Feeding the hungry, 2. Giving drink to the thirsty, 3. Clothing the naked, 4. Sheltering the homeless, 5. Visiting the sick, 6. Visiting the imprisoned, and 7. Burying the dead.
Following the conference, participants observed a period of silent reflection, celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and prayed the Holy Rosary together.

The recollection concluded with the celebration of the Holy Mass, presided over by Rev. Fr. Joseph Thang Nen Zo Mung, Diocesan Director of Social Communication and RVA Tedim Chin Service. During the Mass, Rev. Fr. Romanus Hau Deih Sut preached the homily based on the day’s Gospel reading (Matthew 8:1–4). Reflecting on the healing of the leper, he highlighted the leper’s humble and faith-filled prayer, encouraging the faithful to imitate such trust, humility, and perseverance in their daily relationship with God.

The Diocese concluded the monthly recollection by hosting a fellowship lunch for all participants, strengthening the bonds of fraternity and collaboration among those serving the local Church.
The monthly recollection remains an important spiritual formation program in the Diocese of Kalay, enabling clergy, religious, and lay collaborators to deepen their faith and renew their dedication to the Church’s pastoral mission under the guidance of Bishop Felix Lian Khen Thang of Kaaly Diocese.
