Celebrating Faith and Digital Mission: RVA Day of RVA K’Cho Service in Lukse Parish

The “Immaculate Heart of Mary” Catholic Church in Lukse Parish swelled with more than 600 faithful on June 9, 2026, as the community gathered to celebrate RVA Day of K’Cho Service, a thanksgiving for 18 years of broadcasting the Gospel in the K’Cho language and a prayer for continued blessings in the digital mission field.

The celebration, arranged by Fr. Timothy Ling Maung, Director of Mindat Diocesan Social Communication and Coordinator of RVA K’Cho service, began with a Eucharistic celebration at 9:30 a.m., presided over by Msgr. John Om Se and five concelebrating priests.

A Call to Digital Evangelization

In his homily, Msgr. John Om Se invoked the Lord’s command: “Go to the whole world, preaching the Gospel to every nation.”

“Today we celebrate the RVA Day with a grateful heart and we follow the command of the Lord to proclaim the good news, especially in a digital way,” he said. “They may come to know the salvation of God by RVA.”

The monsignor reflected on the journey of faith in the region. “In our ancestors’ times, we did not know how to praise, honor, and glorify God specifically. But in our times, we come to know how to praise and honor God in our own language. We received faith from MEP missionaries and continued by our local priests and Sisters. Now that we are in the digital age, we have many choices everywhere. Take a look and follow them.”

Gratitude for 18 Years of Service

After the Mass, Fr. Timothy Ling Maung expressed heartfelt thanks to God for the 18 years of RVA Service in the K’Cho language, and to Msgr. John Om Se, all the priests, religious Sisters from FMM and Little Way Sisters, Francis Xavier Brothers, and all the faithful for their participation.

Understanding the RVA Mission

In the second part of the celebration, Fr. Timothy presented on the meaning and history of RVA, from its opening by Pope Paul VI in Manila, Philippines, to its importance in today’s digital world. He encouraged all the faithful to use media in a meaningful and fruitful way.

“I encourage you to use media not just for entertainment but as a tool for evangelization,” he said. “The digital world is our new mission field, and we are called to be witnesses of Christ’s love in this space.”

A Call to Proclaim from the Housetops

Fr. Joseph Ki Khui Om, Chancellor of Mindat Diocese, gave a talk on RVA, drawing from Scripture: “If no one preaches, who will hear?” (Romans 10:14).

“The proclamation of the Gospel is necessary for the people to know and receive faith,” he said. “God chooses to work through human witnesses—apostles, missionaries, priests, religious, and all baptized Christians to announce the good news.”

He quoted Matthew 10:27: “What I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered, proclaim from the housetops.”

“It is RVA that proclaims from the housetops, from the air, from the website, from Facebook, YouTube, X and Instagram,” Fr. Joseph said. “We should encourage the media, appreciate the word of God, and support those who are working in RVA.”

A Day of Community and Joy

The celebration continued with a fellowship lunch and juice for all who came to pray on RVA Day. Afterward, the community gathered for football competitions held in honor of the occasion.

The day was a testament to the growing reach of Catholic media in Myanmar, where the K’Cho language service has become a lifeline for the faithful who might otherwise have no access to the Gospel in their mother tongue.

As the sun set over Lukse Parish, the laughter of children playing football mixed with the prayers of gratitude still echoing from the morning Mass. The digital mission had been celebrated not just with words, but with the joy of a community united in faith and purpose.

For the faithful of Mindat Diocese, RVA Day was more than a celebration—it was a reminder that the Gospel continues to travel, now through airwaves and fiber optics, carrying the same message that has transformed hearts for two millennia.
