‘Go Deeper, Not Just Harder’: RVA Workshop Unites Coordinators from Across Asia

A Radio Veritas Asia (RVA) workshop was held from October 5 to 8, 2026, at the Sisters of Mary School Girlstown in Biga, Silang, Cavite, Philippines, bringing together 20 RVA coordinators from different parts of Asia, including nine coordinators from the Myanmar Language Services.

The workshop began with a recollection led by Bishop Junie Maralit, President of the FABC-OSC. Bishop Junie delivered talks on the spiritual and practical precautions needed in media ministry.

‘How Much Love Did I Put Into My Work?’

Reflecting on the words of Simon Peter in Luke 5:5, “Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing,” Bishop Junie reminded the participants that media work should not be measured only by productivity.

“We have translated. We have broadcast. We have posted. We have met deadlines. We have adapted to algorithms. But remember: how much love did I put into my work?” he said.

Bishop Junie emphasized the importance of remaining close to the Lord while carrying out media ministry.

“Never forget to return to the Lord,” he said, reminding the participants that although they proclaim the Word of God through media, they must also continually return to the Lord and proclaim Jesus through their lives and work.

‘The Answer to Fatigue Is to Go Deeper’

The Bishop acknowledged that those involved in Gospel communication can experience tiredness and discouragement. He encouraged the participants to seek a deeper relationship with God rather than simply working harder.

“When you are tired, how do you find the answer to your fatigue? The answer to fatigue is not to work harder, but to go deeper—deeper in prayer, deeper in listening, deeper in communion, deeper into the realities of the people, and deeper into the mystery of Christ,” Bishop Junie said.

He also called on the different RVA Language Services to give greater attention to people whose voices are often ignored. He encouraged RVA to become a voice for the unheard and the forgotten and urged the coordinators to use communication as a bridge for the good of the people.

At the conclusion of his reflection, Bishop Junie challenged the participants with an important question: “When was the last time the Gospel surprised me?”

A Mission of Hope

The workshop served as a powerful reminder that media ministry is not merely about technology, skills, or reaching audiences—it is about love, prayer, and a deep relationship with Christ. As the coordinators return to their respective countries and language services, they carry with them the Bishop’s challenge to go deeper: deeper in prayer, deeper in listening, and deeper in their commitment to proclaim the Gospel.

For the Myanmar team, the workshop was a gift—a time to step back from daily deadlines and remember why they do what they do. As they return to their studios and offices, they carry renewed spirits and a fresh commitment to be voices of hope for the people of Myanmar and beyond.
