Saint Teresa of Jesus, also known as Saint Teresa of Ávila, was born in Spain in 1515. She was a Carmelite nun, mystic, writer, and reformer of the Church. Through her deep love for God and devotion to prayer, she helped reform the Carmelite Order and founded many convents. She wrote spiritual books, including The Interior Castle and The Way of Perfection, which guide people toward holiness. In 1970, Pope Paul VI declared her a Doctor of the Church in recognition of her spiritual wisdom. She died on October 4, 1582, and her memorial is celebrated on October 15. Her life teaches us to pray faithfully, trust in God, persevere through difficulties, and love God and our neighbours.
