Silver Jubilee of Priestly Ordination Celebrated at Saizang Village in Kalay Diocese

The Catholic faithful of Saizang Village in Tedim Township gathered in great joy on May 2-3 to celebrate the 25th Silver Jubilee of Priestly Ordination of Rev. Fr. James Cin Len Khai, a milestone that also honored his recent PhD in Clinical Psychology.
The celebration drew Bishop Felix Lian Khen Thang of Kalay Diocese, 14 priests, and approximately 2,000 faithful to Holy Rosary Church.

A Warm Welcome
On May 2, Bishop Felix and four accompanying priests arrived in Saizang at 3:00 p.m. The faithful welcomed them with traditional cultural dances, reflecting the deep-rooted customs of the local community. Bishop Felix encouraged the people to continue living their faith with unity and devotion.
The evening concluded with a communal dinner, strengthening bonds of fellowship.

Solemn Mass and Homily
The highlight of the jubilee took place on May 3 at 9:00 a.m. with a solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by Bishop Felix, joined by 14 priests. In his homily, the Bishop emphasized the beauty and value of the priestly vocation as a precious gift of service and sacrifice. He also called for renewed efforts in fostering vocations among the youth.

Gratitude and Academic Milestone
At the conclusion of Mass, Fr. James Cin Len Khai expressed deep gratitude to God for the gift of his priesthood for over 25 years. He thanked Bishop Felix for his guidance and Fr. John Zo Khan Mung, the parish priest, for organizing the celebration.

In addition to his Silver Jubilee, Fr. James recently earned a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Santo Tomas, where he spent approximately 18 years of his priesthood pursuing studies and formation. The dual celebration highlighted both his pastoral dedication and academic commitment.

A Village of Vocations
The evening featured a joyful reception with songs, cultural performances, and gift presentations. Saizang Village holds a special place in the history of the Catholic Church in the region. Known as a strong and longstanding Catholic community, the village has produced nearly ten priests. The parish traces its origins to the missionary efforts of the Paris Foreign Missions Society (MEP), with Fr. Rullen serving as its first parish priest.

The Silver Jubilee celebration stood as a testament to faithful service, enduring vocation, and the vibrant life of the Church in Myanmar—a moment of profound gratitude, communal joy, and renewed commitment to mission.
